This was my first weekend driving since rotator cuff surgery 9 weeks ago. I rented an automatic, since my FJ is a manual and I'm still working only on movement and not strengthening yet. I met TomG near Trona Road and Hwy 395 on Friday morning. We started out with an easy hike to El Paso Peaks since I wanted to see flowers and heard it was good there. I felt good and wanted more, so we headed for Spangler Peak. After a few minutes into the drive on the bumpy dirt road, we decided it was not a good idea for the RAV4. We headed for Klinker Mountain, and hiked from the west face. This was my 3rd time on this summit, but a new route for both of us. Lots of flowers on the way up, and I got to see a Desert Candle, a new flower for me. Beautiful day! (wk 166, day 1)
